Teresa brought me a Zune for Christmas. I feel privilege to have a cell phone, DS, and Zune on my desk. It is very nice to listen to NPR podcasts away from the computer.
Today, I listened to a podcast from State of Nevada about Homeless in Las Vegas. The episode started off with a wonderful piece by Adam Burke's about Matthew O'Brien's explorations through the storm drains of Las Vegas. O'Brien has explored the underground tunnels for five years and has written a book about it. And me, being fascinated by anything new and unusual, I had to found out more about these underground journeys. I have googling O'Brien for the past hour. (I have not read the book yet, it is on my to-do list.)
O'Brien has encountered all sorts of people and places in the drainage system. (His blog has a cute piece about Billy's cat problem.) I like the underground art gallery he discovered. I will probably never go down to tunnels myself. Luckily, The Las Vegas Sun did a little bit of documentary footage of the art work.

Kate read that book (she bought it from him at a local book festival this past year) and she said it was good. I plan on reading it also at some point.
